What We Do

Services

Spinal Pain

At Evans Head Physiotherapy we understand that the body is a complex machine, and requires a holistic approach to assessment and treatment. We will thoroughly assess your movement, not just on a whole-body level, but right down to how your joints and muscles are working.

Our treatment approach for spinal pain is a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription, along with other modalities.  Whether you have a workplace injury or a degenerative condition it is important that, along with our hands-on treatment, you are prescribed an appropriate exercise program to prevent your condition from deteriorating.

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy

Our physios continue to undergo ongoing training with some of Australia’s and the world’s leading manual therapists. Modalities used include soft tissue mobilisation, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, positional releases, McKenzie and Mulligan techniques, and trigger point therapy. All of these techniques are very gentle and therefore low risk.

Sports Injury

All of our physiotherapists have a background in elite sport. This means that we understand the mechanisms of injury, and have the experience to deliver the best possible outcomes. We will identify the true underlying causes and factors that are responsible for your sports injuries, guide you in your return to sporting activity, and offer training tips and advice to prevent further injury.

Headaches

Headaches

Three common types of headache are tension headache, migraine, and headache secondary to a disorder in one of the top three or four joints in the neck. At Evans Head Physiotherapy, we have the knowledge to assess which type of headache you have, the skills to treat it, and the experience to help you to prevent future headaches.

Muscoloskeletal Acupuncture and Dry Needling

Evans Head Physiotherapy offers needling as part of a larger holistic treatment plan, with the goal of stimulating the healing process and releasing/inactivating trigger points, to help relieve pain and improve range of motion. Acupuncture is also extremely effective in the relief of headaches.

Dry Needling
Vertigo/Dizziness

Vertigo/Dizziness

Vertigo can be described as a sensation of dizziness or a spinning feeling when you turn your head, bend, lie down or roll over. Certain conditions that cause vertigo can be treated simply with the help of physiotherapy techniques. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), a common condition, has been shown to be treated effectively with physiotherapy, with long-term control of symptoms. Your physiotherapist can help diagnose the cause of your vertigo, provide treatment, and prescribe exercises to relieve it.

Post Surgical Rehabilitation

After surgery, surgeons recommend physiotherapy as the most essential component of your rehabilitation. Orthopaedic surgery corrects structural problems, and then the body must relearn function to prevent other problems from occurring. Rehabilitation involves re-establishing optimal joint motion and function, specific muscle strength and flexibility, and then incorporating this into overall function and return to sport or work

Post Surgical Rehabilitation
Exercise Prescription

Exercise Prescription

Post-injury rehab can be a long process which requires both hands-on physiotherapy and gym-based strength and balance training. We know the process inside and out, and will design the ideal program for your rehabilitation.
